Corned Beef Hash: Very good. Diced corned beef, potatoes and onion. Well season and decent portion.

Rest of the food: very good. Chicken and waffles were excellent, some of the best fried chicken I have had. Very good savory grits and one of the few places in the PNW where you can find them.

Coffee: meh

Location: Tacoma

Service: Very friendly, but not very attentive. They look to be very understaffed for how busy they are.

Corned beef Price: $11.99

Coffee Price: $2.50

Other notables: Southern soul food, with a modern restaurant interior. Highly recommended. pacific southern1

Rainbow Cafe

Corned Beef Hash: meh. Fine shredded beef, chunks potatoes, appears to be made in house but with no discernible seasoning, no onions or peppers, just beef and potatoes, it is bland and uninspired. Not bad just not very good.

Rest of the food: meh, typical diner fare.

Coffee: meh

Location: Downtown Auburn

Service: Good, very friendly and personable.

Corned beef Price: $10.59

Coffee Price: $2

Other notables:

Main business seems to be a bar. Regulars drinking and cussing loud at bar at 8:00 am. TV and Juke box going.

Diner food with a dive bar vibe. It does look to have a second entrance which looks to be more restaurant than bar that I did not see when coming in. Nothing would keep me from going back but it was nothing special. rainbow cafe

Chace’s Pancake Corral

Corned Beef Hash: Canned, stick to the pancakes.

Rest of the food: Good

Coffee: Meh

Location: Bellevue

Service: Good

Corned beef Price: $4.50

Coffee Price: $2.50

Other notables:

An east side staple, Chace’s Pancake Corral has been around since 1958 and I believe the only thing that has changed since then is the prices. While the Corned Beef Hash is from a can, I would not let this stop you from coming here. It is an old school diner with historic photos on the war and one of the only places in this city that is older than 20 years old. Just stick with the pancakes.

Roslyn Cafe

Corned Beef Pork Belly Hash: Very good, well seasoned, Garlic forward but not overwhelming. Crispy pork and potato chunks with lots of onion and bell peppers.

Rest of the food: Very good

Coffee: Good

Location: Roslyn, Wa

Service: Very friendly

Corned beef Price: $13

Coffee Price: $1.75

Other notables:

Much of this town was used as a set for the 1990’s TV show, Northern Exposure. The mural on the side of the cafe is the one In the opening scene of the show.

The restaurant itself is quaint and unique. I would not expect this quality food in such a small town and is one of the better breakfasts I have had in recent memory. I highly recommend coming here if you are traveling on I90 looking for a good breakfast. It is well worth the detour.

(Click) Diane, 08:46 AM, April 15, 2017. Entering the town of North Bend. 28 miles east of Seattle and 132 miles south of the Canadian border. 52°F on an overcast day, weather.com said rain. Mileage is 289,375 and the fuel gauge is on full. Looks like I’ll be meeting up for breakfast with a …ah… Dave. Looking forward to a bite to eat and a cup coffee at the Double R Diner. (Click)

(Click) Diane, 09:07 AM. At the Double R Diner now with a damn fine cup of coffee and some sub-par Corned Beef Hash clearly from a can. We will see how the cherry pie is at a later date. The restaurant has changed in the last few years. Once decorated entirely with ‘Twede bird’ from the cartoons of yesteryear, you know the one “I tought I taw a puddy cat”, it seems to have been restored to its former glory and the one I recall from when I first came here in on April 8, 1990. The staff is just as friendly and the clientele seem to all be excited to be there, taking pictures of any and all details in the restaurant. I will return but not for the corned beef. (Click)
